Arielle Bernhardt is a sophomore at Swarthmore College, but hails from Vancouver, Canada. Arielle is majoring in Economics and Anthropology, but has a secret passion for sex(ual selection). She is so happy that Avery took the initiative to start this class, and that Colin agreed to meet with us and entertain our ideas about how to best find mates.
Avery Davis is a sophomore at Swarthmore college. She came up with the idea for this class when she studied sexual selection in a general evolution course. She was drawn to the topic due to the controversy and societal ramifications surrounding sexual selection in humans. The focus on sexual selection in humans combines her two intellectual loves, biology and anthropology. Avery recruited three friends who were also interested in the subject and this class, and thus this project, got underway thanks to the help and sponsorship of Professor Colin Purrington of Swarthmore.
Katherine Gao, a Psychobiology major, is intrigued by how the brain shapes behavior. However, this course has reminded her that the vice versa is true as well. How have the human brain and intelligence evolved as a result of sexual selection?
Max Chomet is a Biology major at Swarthmore College, where he enjoys writing silly lyrics about biology than doing his work. His other interests include, but are not limited to: Mandarin Chinese, Bowties, The Beatles, Scuba Diving, and Fake Mustaches. He hopes that this blog will assist others in the thankless task of finding potential mates. He also enjoys long walks on the beach.
