No. 20 Garnet Continue Road Dominance With 2-0 Victory at Bryn Mawr

BOX SCORE

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Junior Megan Colombo scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season and assisted on a goal by junior Kelsey Cline as the No. 20 Swarthmore College women's soccer team (10-2, 4-1) defeated Conference-rival Bryn Mawr 2-0 on a rainy Saturday afternoon on the Main Line.

With the win, the Garnet move to 4-0 on the road this season and 2-0 at the midway point of a season-long three-game Centennial road swing.

Colombo has scored in three consecutive games.

Colombo's goal marked the third consecutive game in which she has scored. One of the Centennial Conference's hottest offensive players, Colombo has scored four of her five goals this season in the last three games.

While the Garnet controlled possession and  tempo throughout the game - putting 17 shots on goal and doubling-up Bryn Mawrin corner kicks -  it took  two goals on the opposing ends of the half to help Swat put away the pesky Owls. Still scoreless in the 44th, Colombo found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to give Swat a 1-0 just before the half. Then, just two minutes into the second half in the 47th minute, Cline netted her second  goal of the season - and first since the season opener -  with the assist from Colombo to give the Garnet a commanding 2-0 lead that would last for the remainder of the game.

The victory marks the Garnet's 14 consecutive win in the series against Bryn Mawr, as well as the fourth consecutive season in which the women's soccer team has reached double-digit wins.

In goal for Swat, sophomore Marie Mutryn made five saves while being helped out by a Garnet backline that allowed Bryn Mawr few chances.

Byrn Mawr goalkeeper Rebecca Joseph played extremely well in defeat, recording 15 saves while facing pressure all game long.

The Garnet's road swing continues, as No. 20 Swat will face Muhlenberg on Wednesday. Action is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
