Mintel Named Centennial Player of the Week

Swarthmore College senior Mary Mintel (East Hartford, CT - East Catholic) hit 1.000 on the week, going 6-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs to earn Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors for April 4.

Mintel had a double, two singles, a stolen base, and drove in the game-winning run in the Garnet's 1-0 win over Widener. The centerfielder collected three extra-base hits, scored a run, stole a base and drove in all three runs in Swarthmore's 3-2 victory in the night cap over the Pioneers. Mintel hit a double in the first, a triple in the third, and capped off the afternoon with her fourth home run of the season in the fifth inning.

The senior leads the Garnet in eight offensive categories and ranks in the Centennial Conference top-10 in six. Mintel is 10th in batting average (.386) and 6th in slugging percentage (.702). She ranks second with 22 hits, and four home runs, is third with four doubles and is ninth with 11 RBIs.

The Garnet Tide is currently 6-14 on the season and opens its conference slate at Ursinus tomorrow with a 3:30 doubleheader.
